Belt Stripe System

Tips to become a champion       The ABCs of Self Defense

As a reminder, Connecticut Martial Arts invented the concept of striping belts daily and created the “minimum” stripe method which helps ensure students are coming frequently enough, and are being spot checked at appropriate time.

The concept works so well, that it is now being copied all over the U.S. and beyond. However, as good as it is, we actually have developed an idea which makes it even better!

For all students Solid Yellow Belt through Brown Tip: After you receive your 8th stripe, you may ask an instructor to lead you through your form and Sabanchuck. If you are able to follow competently, you can earn a Black Stripe on the Back of your Belt, telling everyone that you have performed well and understand the material.

After your 16th stripe, you may ask a teacher to watch you do the Form, Sabanchuck and Breaking Skill on your own. If you can perform the material independently, you can receive a second Black Stripe on the back of your belt.

If you are Yellow through Purple, you can get your Spotlight Test Paper at this time signifying that you are ready to test for your next belt.

Students who are Red Belt or higher can test for a second Black Stripe, but cannot receive their Spotlight Test paper until their 24th stripe. They must at this time perform independently with speed, power and enthusiasm to be eligible to testing!

This new system will greatly increase communication between students and teachers and ensure that all students are watched and prepared properly during the course of their training and preparation for Belt Promotion.

It’s a simple idea that sounds like a real Winner!
